Fuat Tosyalı: We Can Increase the Sector's Competitiveness with Strategic Protection
Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of Tosyalı Holding, stated that global trade has been going through a difficult test for the last 2 years. Fuat Tosyalı noted that geopolitical developments and uncertainties regarding customs tariffs continue to affect all countries and sectors throughout 2025, saying, "Especially the surplus resulting from China's high production figures has completely disrupted the balance in global export markets."

Pointing out that iron and steel producers in the domestic market are seriously challenged as a result of global developments, Fuat Tosyalı said, "We are experiencing this unfair competition with China in many countries where we are also present on the export side. Therefore, while addressing this unfair competition originating from the Far East, we must take comprehensive measures by developing a holistic approach that considers not only the domestic market but also our export markets. We are entering a period where practices that support value-added green steel production and provide strategic protection against unfair competition need to be addressed more sensitively. Steps to be taken with this focus will increase the sector's international competitiveness," he said.
"We Made Investments Focused on Sustainability, Efficiency, and Scale"
As a company that foresees developments in the sector in advance, Tosyalı stated that they made investments with a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and scale, and noted the following: "With these investments, we continue to increase our competitiveness in the global market. We are a company operating on a global scale in green steel production, and we are determinedly continuing our efforts to further reduce the carbon emissions of our production facilities with our investments in renewable, clean energy sources. In 2025, we took the first step for one of the largest self-consumption solar power projects in our country with a capacity of 1.2 GW with the first phase works in Osmaniye. Thus, we will provide nearly 50% of our self-consumption from solar power. Additionally, our efforts to use green hydrogen, a clean energy source, in production at our facilities continue. In this context, our second DRI facility in Algeria, thanks to its advanced technology, became the first facility in the world to start commercial production with the ability to operate with both natural gas and 100% hydrogen with a small modification. We achieve almost 50% less carbon emissions in product-based emissions compared to our competitors and acceptable values. We gather our green steel products under our Tosyalı V-Green brand."
"We Increased Our Global Crude Steel Production by 110%"
Tosyalı described their position among global steel producers as follows: "We are the only company that can consistently maintain this success among the world's top 50 steel producers by continuously increasing our production and world ranking every year. Over the past five years, we have doubled our global visibility by increasing our global crude steel production by 110% and have become the company with the highest crude steel production based in Turkey. We are the 3rd largest steel producer in Europe. We will continue to move forward with confident steps towards our goal of becoming one of the world's top 20 steel companies within the next 5 years."
