Throughout the meeting, representatives of leading steel producers from different regions of the world discussed global trends in occupational health and safety, successful company practices, and how to develop a sustainable safety culture. During the technical visit to Çolakoğlu Metalurji as part of the program, committee members examined the company's investments in environmentally friendly technologies and advanced OHS practices on-site, exchanging mutual information.

The session, attended by senior OHS managers from leading companies in the sector such as ArcelorMittal, POSCO, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and Jindal Steel, as well as Worldsteel representatives, concluded with a plaque of appreciation presented to Çolakoğlu Metalurji for their hospitality.

Safety Culture, Continuity, and International Solidarity

The collaboration between Çolakoğlu Metalurji and the World Steel Association OHS Committee has a strong history spanning many years. By regularly participating in committee activities, the company has supported the implementation of exemplary projects that contribute to the development of safety practices not only in its own facilities but also across the industry.

This collaboration was further strengthened by the invitation of the Worldsteel OHS Committee Chairman to the "Symposium on Employee Safety and Well-being in the Metallurgy Sector" organized by METEM. The Worldsteel delegation, which also participated in the Symposium this year, contributed to the increase of knowledge in the OHS field by sharing good practices and success experiences that guide the sector.

Contribution of Global OHS Approaches to the Sector

The recent election of Çolakoğlu Metalurji General Manager Uğur Dalbeler as President of the World Steel Association for the 2025–2026 term added a special significance to the meeting. This important development once again highlighted Turkey's active role in the steel industry. The company stated that the organized committee meeting further strengthened the long-term collaboration and made significant contributions to both sustainable production and the development of a safe working culture.
